Post 030 - Badlands

Day 32 - Thursday, July 5

The Badlands of Dakota

A long push through the Missouri River Vally under very windy conditions put me in the Mountain Time Zone and the Badlands of Dakota. Specifically, Badlands National Park. I am so happy to be here and experience the Badlands first hand. They are a geologic wonder. It is a marvel to think I am on the floor of a dry sea bed, during one small moment in its long, long history. The Plains and Sand Hill region are covered in lush grassland. Lucky them. In the badlands you see what is underneath and what can appear if the grasses are destroyed. The Plains could become the Sahara. The coulee flows on the wind.
