I spent several days at the Devil's Tower and took a hundred photos. Most are of the tower itself. It demands your attention. It's big medicine. There is a 1.5 mile walk around its base. It's a lovely walk through boulder fields and pine forests with this massive volcanic plug right next to you. Tiny bodies climb its walls, hawks soar about its summit. I am moved by its geologic uniqueness. I feel the surge of magma through eons of sedimentary strata. I experience the ages of erosion and sweep of oceans. As I said, it's big medicine.
